Area Links

Whether you're already here, or you're contemplating moving your family or business to Pere Marquette Township, you'll want to know about the neighborhood!  Click on these links to zip through cyberspace and find out about the area.

Public schools and colleges: Ludington Area Public Schools, Mason-Lake Intermediate School District, and West Shore Community College.

Job-hunters check in with Michigan Works! West Central, and check the classifieds at our local paper, the Ludington Daily News.

Business prospectors will want to take a look at the sites for the Ludington Chamber of Commerce and the Ludington Convention and Visitors' Bureau.  And we have information on our very own Pere Marquette Industrial Parks right here on this website as well.

Interested in the best that Nature has to offer?  Environmentalists will be happy to learn of the local group, A.F.F.E.W. ("A Few Friends of the Environment of the World").  AFFEW seeks to educate people and to respond to issues affecting our community.

Check our Parks Page, as well as the local outdoor activities shared on the new "Get off the Couch" website.  There are three great trails in Pere Marquette Township -- Buttersville, Suttons Landing, and the Pumped Storage Park, as well as some others in Mason County.  "Get off the Couch" will show you trails, watersports, bicycling, and a whole lot more -- IN FOUR COUNTIES!  Their site is dedicated to ...  well, getting off the couch, and enjoying quiet, muscle-powered entertainment in the great outdoors.  You can also get the scoop on the Pere Marquette River, the Ludington State Park , and the Huron-Manistee National Forest by clicking these links.

Great Lakes enthusiasts will enjoy a look at the Regional U.S. Coast Guard Page, with its links to Michigan stations and lighthouses -- including those here in Ludington.

Everybody loves a good Public Library, and Mason County has two of the best!  The folks at the Mason County Libraries are wonderful resources for all your needs.  If you'd like more information on any of these topics, please contact them.

Pet lovers will be glad to see the excellent facility at Mason County Animal Control.  Those looking for a new pet can see what's available Monday through Saturday until noon, or Monday evenings.  Can't get out?  Try checking the adorable, adoptable pets on www.petfinder.org.  Enter the Ludington zip code to center your search in Mason County.

One of the best all-around resources in the area is Michigan State University's County Extension Office.  Located in Scottville near the center of the Mason County, they have a wonderful web site that's really worth a look.  You'll find information on area hunting, fishing, and forestry.  An extensive list lets you explore many aspects of agriculture, and of course, they offer classes and resources for Family Health, 4-H Programs, as well as links to the rest of the MSU cyberworld.

Other State and National links:  If you want to reach out a little farther in this great State of ours, take a peek at www.everythingmichigan.net.  They have an extensive selection of links to...  well...  just about everything.  The www.michigan.gov link will get you to our State website for tax forms and all sorts of interesting and helpful stuff, including links to your legislators and to the Federal Government.  For a jump-start on IRS information, forms, publications, and -- believe it or not, some pretty entertaining reading -- try www.irs.gov.

New to our site is this link to the GovBenefits.gov website.  GovBenefits.gov helps citizens access government benefit information through a free, confidential, and easy-to-use online screening tool.  After answering some basic questions, the user receives a customized report listing the benefit programs for which the user (or the person for whom he or she is entering information) may be eligible.

Pere Marquette Township and Mason County welcome your interest, and welcome your questions.  Please contact us if we may be of help to you.  Write to Gene, the Supervisor, or click on "Contact Us" for a complete list of people and departments.
